saraswathi vratham…story to be read

Sage Sootha started telling Sounaka and other sages thus.Hey sages!I want to tell you about a pious vratham.It should be performed during Aswayuja month,suklapaksha paadyami continuously for nine days.you have to pray Goddess Durga,Lakshmi and Saraswathi.If not you can start from moola nakshathram.If it is not practically possible,at least on Navami you can do this pooja or ritual.If we perform it,we will be bestowed with riches,wealth and progeny.You can reach Durga loka after our stay in this world ends. Sages eagerly asked Sootha if any one had earlier done this pooja and benefitted as told. Sage Sootha started telling the story.Hey sages!During Krutha yuga there was a king named Sukethudu.He was a righteous king and ruled his kingdom in a rightful way.He was wealthy and rich.He had a wife named Suvedi.She was a beautiful and good natured woman.They looked after their kingdom nicely and kingdom prospered. But after some time,his distant relations waged war against him and he could not withstand their power.He went to war and was defeated.He ran away from the battle field and his wife accompanied him into the forest. They passed through many hardships.They were hungry.thirsty and no proper place to live.They were wandering in the wild forest.Sukethu became sick and his wife was weeping thinking of their plight.A sage named Angeerasa was going along the way and heard her wailings.He came to them asked about their whereabouts and who they were.She told him about what all had happened and about their pleasant pitiable condition. Sage Angeerasa consoled her.He took them to a near by place,Panchavati thataakamu.It was Durgadevi kshethra.He told Suvedi to pray the deity for progeny and getting back their kingdom. Wife and husband bathed and sat to perform the pooja.Sage Angeerasa conducted the pooja for them properly. Later he took them to his home.After some time she had a son.Sage named the boy as Suryaprathap.When he was five years old,sage started vidyaabhyaasam and taught him everything.He became a good warrior.After he turned into youth,he took blessings from the sage and went to wage war against their enemies.He won the war. Like this they got back their kingdom and a succeful son.So,from then onwards Suvedi performed that pooja every year.they flourished and their progeny also continued.They enjoyed their lives fully and attained moksha or salvation afterwards.
